Smart Host on email service with SPF template

Hi,
Refer to Email service, I normally provide the shared hosting service on DA with redirect all email host to smart host services (for security reasons), the important to make the email sending right is, we have to include SPF record for that. So right now on Enhance only allow Smart Host setting for email services, but I have to edit all existing or new client once it has been created. Is there anywhere I can create a template for this. Or it would be good on Smart host setting GUI to allow adding custom SPF record for override or merge for all existing client or new one.

Also the same thing with DMARC record. I like to have it add as well.

If you go to settings->platform->DNS zone templating you can add your SPF records here and these will be added to all new zones. It won't affect existing websites.

How is the existing website, do we have a way to override it, perhaps CLI script is okay.

It preserves custom MX records. If custom MXs are detected, it also copies across TXT records (for SPF/DKIM).

There is no method in Enhance to update existing zones. If you have a lot of sites, take a look at our API

I've done that myself for adding "include:relay.mailbaby.net" as our smarthost for SPF but I'm guessing cPanel migrations will overwrite the SPF rather than merge it together? I mean the cPanel importer doesn't preserve DNS records at all yet, but I'm talking about the improvements coming around the corner.

That must be an improvement from the last time I used it. Nice to know. I'm looking forward to the next improvements so we can started migrating from cPanel in earnest now that the 5th price increase has been announced for 2024.

I've just run the newest cPanel importer, and it's unfortunately no better. Our cPanel dns zones use the unadorned (no host) domain as the MX record, and the MX record which is NOT custom at all is preserved when it should be converted to mail.<domain> because email is hosted on a different server which just adds more work for us rather than less! This is not a custom MX record if the MX points to the same cPanel server hosting the domain!

Now the only way I can see this working is if we can rework all cPanel MX records automatically from <domain> to mail.<domain> for all cPanel zones, but then I'll have to contemplate the ramifications for actual custom MX records.

I sincerely hope Enhance's cPanel importer can resolve this problem quickly!

In fact, when migrating from cPanel the MX entry is being changed from mail.domain.com to domain.com, I had to make the adjustment in all the migrations I carried out from cPanel.

Thanks for reporting @WordPane @MediaServe I think we've found the bug by testing with a variety of cPanel backups. The fix will be in version 10.0.0.
