SSH Terminal in Enhance Panel

This is quite a popular feature request and we will probably add this functionality for the customer in the future; this would give them a terminal which runs inside of their app container from which they can run utilities like wp-cli. This will be configurable on a per-package basis if you don't want to give customers this level of access.

We won't add this functionality for root. It's part of the core design ethos of Enhance that the control panel server does not have root access to the app servers; it can perform very limited actions over RPC.

Hi, is this still considered? As we slowly move more clients to Enhance, people starts to complain that they can use easily wp-cli,composer and so on inside of the panel. It will be useful to have an integrated terminal for such small tasks. The main task would be to fix the permissions of files/folders as currently, the only option is to do via SSH.

+1 for the SSH Terminal for customers, in their app containers, and that's it, great for client, safe for the provider.

-1 for this, if you need a SSH terminal, just use something that is a terminal. For example on windows just WSL2 a ubuntu terminal.

I am glad enhance won't think about it accessing root, that would be way too dangerous 🙂
Besides, the resources to make a webterminal well. I prefer enhance to focus on other features that are needed 😉

alenguav Have them use a real SSH client. They can connect to their account via SSH just not from the panel.

If someone doesn't know what an SSH client is or how to connect using one, they shouldn't have access to SSH. Plain and simple. Adding SSH to a web interface greatly decreases security and only helps people who wouldn't be using SSH.

Adam has said that this wont be added. Its a very bad idea for security.... If an admin can't use an SSH client they shouldn't be an admin. Or if they can't understand the very serious security risk....

vsmbg This is not considered. Also, clients can use the SSH details found in the panel and then login from there.
