Hi "quicklookup", I also like "xyzulu" use the OpenLiteSpeed (OLS) web server and I can tell you that I have never had any problems nor the error you are experiencing. It is not a normal error and also I recommend you to report it to Enhance's excellent support service and they will surely be able to help you solve the problem.

Also I wanted to tell you that unfortunately as of today on Enhance Control Panel you cannot configure the OpenLiteSpeed (OLS) Control Panel because the changes you would make would not be persistent.

Before opening this discussion I searched the documentation available on Enhance website looking for the command to reset the automatically created password on OpenLiteSpeed free version (not to be confused with the paid commercial version called "LiteSpeed") but I didn't know or was able to find it.

I wanted to ask you if you know whether the changes made to the OpenLiteSpeed free version (not to be confused with the paid commercial version called "LiteSpeed") configuration through this procedure are persistent with Enhance Control Panel or not?

Config changes made to OpenLiteSpeed do not persist and will be lost when virtualhosts are updated through Enhance.

However, the default settings should be sufficient for 99% of users. Can you tell me what you would like to customise?

Regarding the reason why I request that the Control Panel of the free OpenLiteSpeed Webserver (not to be confused with the paid commercial version called LiteSpeed), in my humble opinion, can and should be freely configurable, my opinion is not important for the discussion specific use case, as today I have needs for which I need to make certain specific configurations to the OpenLiteSpeed WebServer Control Panel but tomorrow I could have other needs that require other specific and customized configurations to the OpenLiteSpeed WebServer Control Panel and this, I believe, can apply to 99% of all those who use the OpenLiteSpeed WebServer (as it also applies to those who use other WebServer Control Panels such as NGINX, Apache etc., etc.)

So, Adam, the problem does not lie in my specific use case which requires a configuration of the Control Panel of the OpenLiteSpeed WebServer but precisely in the very nature of the WebServers which must always be modifiable at the configuration level in order to always adapt to specific cases. required uses that inevitably change over time.

Having said this, I hope that you will be able to implement in a short time the possibility of being able to change the configuration of the OpenLiteSpeed Control Panel in order for the changes to be persistent and I took the liberty of requesting this functionality only because I saw that in this other post of yours answer in this thread and over 8 months have already passed since then https://community.enhance.com/d/494-v2-litespeed-openlitespeed-config-settings-920-core/29 and I wanted to know if you have any news regarding this request which is mine too.

Furthermore, for completeness of information, I personally believe that regarding OpenLiteSpeed, both my request relating to the possibility of being able to configure the Control Panel of the OpenLiteSpeed WebServer with persistent configuration changes and the problem relating to the reload of .htacces for OpenLiteSpeed we have the same priority and importance.

@Adam For me I'd like to setup reverse proxy for using docker containers. So persisting A) the application configuration that I'd make within OLS console, B) the vhost config changes need for using that app route.

Right now, knowing any update destroys customisations is basically hostile and renders using this method useless without custom cron scripts re-patching config files. Which is hacky and messy and not something that should be used in production setting.

So having this for OLS is +1 sorely needed. But OLS .htaccess reloads should take priority.

i have very minimum experience with ols webserver. I am now reading about it, investigating the potentials.
What are the most crucial settings on OLS that you think is required to be persistent ?
i mean apart from the lscache plugin, that everything will be configured inside this plugin, which config value on ols will make a difference and you think is required to be persistent ?

Hi "lefteris", as on Apache or on NGINX and also for OpenLiteSpeed all the parameters relating to its configuration must be persistent there is no classification of more or less important precisely because it is the very nature of Web Servers regardless of whether Apache, NGINX, OpenLiteSpeed or LiteSpeed Enterprise which requires them to be configurable, because there is no standard configuration that can suit 99% of users, as the needs of each of us are different and always continue to change with the passage of time, that's all.

I have used NGINX for years and I was happy with it but for several years I have only used OpenLiteSpeed or, when I can't do without it, LiteSpeed Enterprise (which is the paid and commercial version of OpenLiteSpeed) and I consider OpenLiteSpeed much better in terms of performance compared to NGINX and I also consider it very safe, however by searching for information on Google and trying it yourself you will be able to form your own opinion.
