Don't overdo it. One update on the forum per week is 15-30 minutes. A company is not just about developers, but also about customer service and customer trust. For several months now, version 12.0.0 has been delayed by another month without any information about its progress. There's no information at all, and then we just see another month added to the roadmap. Sorry, but that's not how you build a good brand. This is no longer a 1-2 month delay but much longer; we are receiving conflicting information that the update is almost ready, and then shortly after it's +2 months and no information at all.

I think it does not even have to be on the forum, there are various ways this could be implemented.

Keep the roadmap updated not not just change it a few days before the end of the month because it is delayed. No communication to your customers will cause complaining. It takes 2 - 10 minutes (depending on how fast you type) to just write a short update if there is a delay.

Some items in the release need further work, unfortunately we have to delay the update.
Then change status on roadmap to delayed
Simple change of the roadmap status wording eg planning, in progress, delayed, still keep scheduled status for future updates.

ecknz I agree with you, this whole delay and lack of updates about it, make me think that something is wrong on enhance HQ , definitely not good for marketing , November is almost gone and there is no update about the release , meanwhile there are major updates that haven't been done on external apps , causing security issues ...

This isn’t basic web development with a single stakeholder in a private setting; it’s a complex project. I wouldn’t want to disclose issues and bugs that could lead to security vulnerabilities in a public forum.

If we were to receive updates, they might simply state that there are delays, and we don’t know how long they will last—perhaps another week or two, depending on the next bug or issue that arises. It’s important to remember that we are end users, not investors.

Instead of demanding transparency that may not be appropriate, let’s reflect on our own expectations. Why do some of us feel so emotionally affected by missed estimated release dates? Let’s focus on supporting the team rather than adding pressure. Patience is a virtue, and our expectations need to be tempered accordingly.

I do think the metaphors used were wrong. But I can think of the perfect one..
You know when you're at a train station, and you see people getting up to look to see if the train is coming? Even though the train 100% will stop. This is like that.. 😃

Anyone who has lost customers because of using enhance as there sole panel, has only themselves to blame. No offence but you wouldn't understand that you're not even in the hosting business. It's not that expensive to run concurrent plesk or cpanel servers for customers that aren't happy! $10 - 20 a month Plesk server with Ionos. heck even a cpanel reseller account can be dirt cheap to wait it out.

You know as much about version 12.0.0 as I do, which is nothing. So step out of your bubble. You don’t even have a clue at what stage their work is, because there’s no information about it. Enlighten us, expert, on what stage version 12.0.0 is at, since you’re so knowledgeable about rewriting architecture. You are the ignorant one, not even knowing at what stage of work the Enhance team is.

How hard do you think it is going to be to go from docker based service architecture to a systemd based one? Whilst it's on live production servers. Moving away from a docker based system back to systemd will make config management far easier, deployment arguably better... but that 'transition' itself without breaking things, that, I can tell you now is no small feat! I am literally cringing at the sheer amount of work and testing that's involved.

You're stamping your feat because you wasn't spoon feed that an update is delayed. Get over it. Thing is they don't OWE you any update. The roadmap is there, it's an ESTIMATE and yes it's missed it's target a number of times. Some of these features are years behind when they was "Scheduled" so what. It's their product. Doesn't give you the right to demand "Developer Updates" Grow up.

How many features have missed there "expected" release date, it's extremely common even with enhance. You've been around since 2022, you should know better by now. Stop F5'ing the release notes pages every day and it will come quicker. (I am excited just as much as others when updates come, and have an almost permanent tab open too)

This request IS putting pressure on the team, they don't need it and the update will come when it's good and ready. Given the sheer complexity of this release, I am not surprised it's got significantly delayed and instead of moaning about it. I just wish them all the best, knowing their being extra cautious and diligent. I know releases will come faster once this hurdle has been overcome.

I like the community helping each other keep things updated as best we can whilst their dealing with this complex issue. Every release of theirs goes through 100's of hours of build testing, right now all focus for them is likely on this v12. Diverted attention will only cause compounded delays.

Idk whats with these guys Rich and his other buddies becomes so defensive against any as simple request as demanding updates on 'why the delay?' that's it!, you guys are so aggressive to me, to @Shaijee and now to @DracoBlue.. first of all do not commentif you don't have any insider information about updates, you're paying and waiting since 2023? great! it's your money do whatever the heck you want, but never argue with users who's simply seeking answers and everyone here has come from some experience in industry, had countless hours spent on discussions with users all over the world in this field, so im sure everyone knows how things work n how it should be.. so chill and let people in the free world ask questions...

Lets see... 30 minutes a week (probably much less) for progress update post. That's 2 hours a month.

Calm down, guys..let’s agree to disagree and keep it cool.

Adam already mentioned that once they overcome the v12 obstacle, they’ll get back to frequent updates to keep everyone happy. Let’s be patient and hope for smooth transitions , it’s in the best interest of all of us.

Giving an ETA when things could get complicated isn’t ideal, and stepping in every week just to say ‘not ready yet’ would still upset some people. It’s tough to please everyone. That said, Enhance support has been incredibly quick in replying to tickets, whether it’s for support or just updates on the current product state, and that’s enough for me. But I respect that it might not be enough for others.

I don't consider you an idiot, and I do value your input, you bring a lot of good feature requests.

My concern and frustration is the point of asking for continual updates. It's not just you. I made my stance fully clear. I won't reiterate. That said I do want to take cPFences comment of agree to disagree. I just wanted to share that I concur with this.

Delays are fine and happen with everything, going to a drive through to get dinner, your order can be delayed.

For me I don't need continual updates, just not seeing in a roadmap 4 days before a release eta being silently delayed another month with the same scheduled status. I'd be happy with just a simple - delayed next to scheduled is fine no explanation needed,. A detailed run down of what is failing is not needed as that in itself would be a security concern.

The other problem while there are delays, important things get missed or pushed back, security updates.
No hotfixes being pushed out to allow updating of services eg php, webmail, email. some can be manually updated and there are others that can not.

If v12 gets pushed back again which is fine, it is even longer without updates to anything else. I am more concerned myself about security than the ability to move a panel to another server or newer features.

For those running client sites, if PCI compliance is needed and you are providing the hosting service for them you may want to run a test to ensure you are meeting the requirements with your hosting.

People's livelihoods depend on stable updates. If an update goes poorly and causes issues with their hosting business, it could mean losing customers. Those in the business know how little loyalty customers have when their hosting goes offline, the first reaction is for them to migrate away.

We have mortgages to pay and children to feed. If enhance has to delay another month, two months, three months - whatever, it's worth it to know there's less chance of an issue with running the update.

That's why ppl get defensive about it. I feel it too, I'm still terrified to update to Ubuntu 24, much less enhance v12.
