+1. This, I believe, is the best course of action.
The module is already open source, graciously provided by the Enhance dev team, but lacks a public repo (at least to my knowledge).
The Enhance dev team has a lot on their plate, and it makes more sense for them to focus on the core software itself rather than splitting time on the WHMCS module. Handing the core development of the module to the community would allow for faster feature additions/development, more rigorous testing, and (arguably) better bug tracking. It would be a more robust solution overall.
Let the community run with it—we’re ready.
